Sunny Days
It is cold outside, just 16 (f) degrees. As I look out the window, I have the illusion of warmth. Why? Because it is sunny with a beautiful blue sky. The day is young and the predicted high temperature of 48 (f) degrees puts me in the mood for cycling, hiking, and countless other outdoor activities.
Spring is a time of rebirth and even the thought of it recharges my batteries. I spent the day, yesterday, doing “spring cleaning” and preparing the bicycles for the coming cycling season. Today, I have to buy a new tube for my mountain-bike. Then, I tune up the bikes to make sure that everything is perfect before we hit the road or trail.
Planning your warm-weather fun in advance is a great way to forget the cold of winter and start looking forward to nature’s renaissance. Before you know it, spring blossoms will pop bringing color to what once was gray and dreary. The thought of it makes me want to grab a guitar or ukulele and run to a park and sit among the greenery softly playing music and soaking up the sunshine.
I am looking forward to the coming spring weather and I feel warm inside. Another winter is almost gone and fair-weather fun is just around the corner.
This reminds me of an old biblical saying: “This is the day that the Lord hath made, rejoice and be glad in it.”
Whatever your religion, or even if you don’t have any religious beliefs, everyone appreciates a beautiful day and the coming of spring. Rejoice and be glad in it.
