I’d Rather Be Busy
I’d rather be busy than not. Many people complain about being given so-called “busy work” on the job. That’s the name that has been given to mundane things like cleaning and straightening store shelves, sweeping warehouse floors, getting rid of trash, and sundry tasks that someone needs to do and most people seem to think is below them, for some reason. Ah, but it is better than being in an unemployment line.
Perspective is everything.
At any given moment I could find lots of things to do, whether at work or at home. If you are employed by a company and you are asked to do some simple, mundane tasks, like helping clean the work area for example, think of this as time when you can free your mind to think of other things while you handle the simple little task that you have been asked to do.
If you don’t like your job and decide that there is too much “busy work” for you, and thoughts of getting another job are in your mind, whatever you do, don’t mention any negative aspects of the present employment situation. Speak of only the positive things and forget anything that you don’t like about the present job. But unless your job is your passion, it is better to consider whether or not you should explore other possible avenues before jumping into another “job”. Do you want a “job” or a “career”?
Work is work, and it sure beats the unemployment line, but a career should be a path you WANT to TRAVEL. It should be something you love to do.
